When a minor league baseball player realizes he’s running out of chances to make it to the big leagues, he's forced to go against his moral compass and take performance enhancing drugs, an act that ultimately destroys the only other thing as important to him as baseball: his family.
The overall tone is a true-to-life sense similar to “The Wrestler." The tense dramatic scenes will have time to breathe. This breath will allow for the exciting action elements to pop, as if one was watching ESPN’s “30 for 30” or HBO’s documentary styled football show, “Hard Knocks."
The gritty life of a minor leaguer striving to make it to the “bigs” is the backdrop. The harsh conditions permeate throughout the sports scenes and in the day-to-day life of the players.
LAST SHOT is not just a sports movie. It’s an action filled family drama about a man at the precipice of his career forced to choose between two un-ideal choices. Viewers of ALL AGES and BACKGROUNDS will easily relate to this as well as the themes of family, sacrifice, underdog and morality versus survival.
